DigiBC is presenting an event talking about the video game industry happening in BC and its potential to create a breakout smash hit title. Six pros from the local video games community will talk share their perspectives and take questions from the audience during “Level Up: Can Vancouver Create the Next Minecraft?”, taking place in the evening of Wednesday, March 11 from 6PM to 9PM.


Panelists include Full Indie Vancouver co-founder Alex Vostrov, who has been instrumental in uniting the local indie gaming community and fostering developer culture and creativity. Joining Alex on the panel also are:
■ Victor Lucas, the TV host and creator of the long-running “Electric Playground” TV series, as well as “Reviews on the Run”
■ Ryan Cleven, Game Director for Microsoft Studios Canada on their upcoming “Gears of War” title now in development
■ James Hursthouse, co-founder and CEO of Roadhouse Interactive, a growing games company HQ’ed in Vancouver
■ Raphael van Lierop, the creator of “The Long Dark” bestselling adventure game on Steam, and founder of Hinterland Games HQ’ed on Vancouver Island
■ and Alexandre Mandryka, a veteran games producer who’s worked on Ubisoft’s “Far Cry” & “Assassin’s Creed” franchises
Pizza and drinks are included with your ticket. As well, DeNA Studios Canada will be set up showing off their new titles developed in our backyard including “Transformers: Battle Tactics”. Annex Pro, retailers of many hardware and software devices used by game artists and animators, will also be on hand to show off their new equipment and give away a door prize.
